Nikki is a girl whose body cannot contain the amount of things she wants to do.
She had decided to marry the ocean a long time ago.

Quoting Kerouac, she believes...
"The only people are the mad ones. The ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time; the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars."

She thrives on positivism and good vibes, which might annoy the hell out of you; but that's the only way she knows life. And she ain't sorry.

Like the Beatles, she is a lover of love.
"There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game.
It's easy. - ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE."

She requires a regular dosage of happy pills, which consists of Vitamin A-rt, Vitamin Sea, and her drug surfing- which is perfectly fine to OD on! (Don't panic, it's organic.)

Nikki is all about dreams and making them come true. She constantly ponders on the word "passion."
She is all for making a difference because she knows that "I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together."

She, from time to time, enjoys burrowing into her rabbit hole- a world of mermaids, and flowers, and rock and roll showers.
To Nikki, the world is a playground. She hopes to meet you in the sandbox, where you can talk about the random hidden treasures waiting to be discovered amongst the dirt. Surprise her.

The Earth with ART is just…!!!!! :)—Post Malasimbo Part 1

They say that the Earth without ART is just eh, so when a few too-clever event organizers decided to marry the two together, an affair nothing short of a creative fairytale was born.

Experience its perfect chemistry and feel-good energy surging through your veins. It’s pure beauty and the beat: say hello to the Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival, and find out (MORE) why this 3-day nature trip does nothing but satisfy my wanderlust craving.

Reason #1: The Backdrop

Let’s just say I love the earth and everything about it.

With the event grounds situated atop an inactive volcano (Mount Malasimbo), pit against the scenic Puerto Galera Bay, there’s no denying that this music festival is simply a beauty to behold.

There’s nothing quite like it. Where can I lay on the grass, stare at the stars, listen to the most amazeballs live music, and feel the fresh mountain breeze blow against my face all at the same time?!

Reason #2: The ART

Nature’s awesome, but having beautiful pieces of art scattered around the event grounds is just the cherry on top of this festival. Yes, the Earth with ART is just mind-blowingly wonderful.

One of my favorite art pieces from Malasimbo 2012. (Follow the artist on tumblr) They’re the sweetest sculptures I’ve ever seen. :) Too pretty to eat though.

Reason #3: The Indie

I would have never imagined seeing grammy winners like Joss Stone and Jimmy Cliff perform in the same event as local music mavens like Grace Nono and Bob Aves; heck even my college friend’s band (Ivan Theory) performed.

PH Champions of Filipino-World Music whose unique sound blends indigenous Filipino instruments and chanting with a contemporary touch. The Grace Nono-Bob Aves Group has represented our country in numerous cultural events around the world. Nono and Aves are highly acclaimed musicians and activists in light of the preservation and enrichment of Filipino pre-colonial culture.

I was so enchanted (not exaggerating) with Grace Nono’s performance. She not only OWNED the earth goddess vibe with her hair-raising number (ala Avatar), but embodied genuine Pinay beauty as well. (Majorly contrasting the Glutathione culture crap that the PH media’s been white-washing our sun-kissed morenas with. ANTI-WHITENING all the way.)

Malasimbo Moment: When a bug landed on her cleavage while on stage. She freaked out and giggled in the most adorable manner!—which of course charmed the crowd all the more. There were more than enough awwws to go around!

Reggae music’s pioneering figure himself. A Grammy Award winning musician, producer, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Cliff has released 30 albums to date.
His latest release “Rebirth” is a 13 track album in collaboration with award-winning producer and punk legend Tim Armstrong (of Rancid). It won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

My latest set of paintings are on their way to their new home in Canada. :) Hoping and praying my client (who’s been missing the Philippine seas) likes them. *FingersCrossed

There’s a first time for everything: I’m not too keen on doing abstract, but I was commissioned to work on a painting (5 ft, 5 in x 3 ft, 4 in) for my tito’s apartment condo in Singapore. Abstract is so simple that it becomes hard—because you have to know when to stop flicking your brush. #theMinimalistAesthetic. Couldn’t help but feel iffy outside my painting-comfort-zone—BUT truly grateful to know that my client was satisfied! Phew. :)
